Europe’s 2014 biofuels consumption up more than 6%

In Belgium, European biofuels consumption increased more than 6% in 2014, reversing the negative consumption trend seen in 2013, at 12.5 million metric tons oil equivalent. Ethanol consumption remained fairly flat while the increased in consumption came almost entirely from biodiesel. More than 89% of the biofuels consumed for transport were certified sustainable, accounting for about 4.3% of European transport fuel consumption.
