Indonesia to require all airlines to use biofuel by 2018

In Indonesia, all airlines operating in the country will be required to use biofuel from 2018 with the country’s transport insist on the use of palm oil and water hyacinth as feedstocks, among others. The minister does recognize that supplies will be limited in the country in 2018 but is hopeful demand will boost supplies further down the line. The exact amount of biofuel to be used by airlines was not reported. Last Friday, the minister and the president signed a joint development agreement with the US for palm oil-based aviation biofuels.
