Stronger dollar boosting demand for Brazil ethanol exports over US

In Brazil, the stronger dollar is boosting demand for its ethanol exports while making US ethanol exports less attractive. Demand from the Middle East and Asia have picked up particularly. The US took over the title of top exporter last year as Brazil’s exports fell by half due to drought, but now the crown is expected to shift back over to Brazil. The US is expected to produce an excess of 500 million gallons of ethanol this year and next year.
