UK farmers union urges MEPs to support biofuels by voting down ILUC compromise

In the UK, the National Farmers Union is encouraging European parliamentarians to vote against the biofuels reform compromise approved by the European Parliament’s environment committee this week, saying legislators have been bullied into the deal by environmentalists and social pressure groups. The vote the end of this month provides the last opportunity to support the benefits provided by biofuels and to help reduce Europe’s reliance on imported protein for animal feed, a byproduct of biofuel production.
